Traced to a feed-mill cross-contamination upstream.

Evanger's Hunk of Beef — pentobarbital contamination

Evanger's Dog & Cat Food Company recalled Hunk of Beef canned dog food after pentobarbital — a euthanasia drug — was detected in product following a reported dog death. FDA investigation found the contaminated beef came from a supplier that had processed euthanised animals. Evanger's temporarily lost its Midwest kosher certification.
